Eight players. Five championship events. Five of the most iconic courses in the Sandhills. The goal is simple: play great golf, enjoy the competition, and crown the Pinehurst Trip Champion.
Each event awards points toward the championship. Scoring balances team play, individual performance, and strategic pair formats so that different styles of play can shine.
All players tee off. The team selects the best drive. Each player then plays their own ball from that spot. The two best net scores count on every hole. This format rewards both strong drives and consistent scoring across the group.
Each player competes against the entire field using the Stableford scoring system. Points are awarded per hole based on net score. Aggressive play is rewarded — a blow-up hole won't ruin your round.
| Net Score | Points |
|---|---|
| Double Bogey or worse | 0 |
| Bogey | 1 |
| Par | 2 |
| Birdie | 3 |
| Eagle | 5 |
Both players hit every shot. The team selects the best ball and both play from there. One team score per hole.
Both players tee off. The best drive is selected. Each player finishes the hole with their own ball. The better net score counts. This format rewards aggressive play and strong individual scoring.
Each player plays their own ball for the entire hole. The lower net score counts for the team. A classic competitive format serving as the final deciding round of the trip.
Points from all five events are added together. The player with the highest total is crowned Pinehurst Trip Champion.
Ties in any event split the points for those positions.
